After The Chase (Brown Hare - Lepus europaeus)

After The Chase (Brown Hare - Lepus europaeus) - Mammals

This shot was set up from my study window. I had been working from home and, not too unusually, there where seven hares laid down in almost a circle in the long grass. Suddenly there was a burst of activity and in an instant one of male hares had mated with the female. The hares all went ballistic with frenetic chasing for about ten minutes. There had obviously been some sort of Mexican stand off in place but a male had broken and caught the rest off guard. I had hoped to sneak down and get some pictures but was on an important call. (Typical). By the time I got down to our back fence the only hare left had collapsed down, clearly exhausted. This panting shot was the result!
