Stoat (Mustela erminea)

Stoat (Mustela erminea) - Mammals

Well, I was really pleased with this one. Leia's school was shut due to the snow so we decided to go up to the local gravel quarry in search of hares and roe deer. We spotted this stoat charging around through the snow, but by the time we had gotten into position he had disappeared. After 10 minutes of waiting we decided to head back. We spotted him again in front of us, and unfortunately for the rabbit who had been startled by our approach, he found himself running straight into this fella who proceeded to despatch him. A very noisy affair. He was then dragged under a nearby shed, quite a feat for an animal only about the fifth of the weight of this adult bunny.
